Jonah is a trial lawyer and always has been – ever since his first job as an
attorney in a Portland
public defenders office. He has taken
cases of any size through arbitration, mediation, and trial when necessary to
get clients results they could live with.
Jonah is committed to
supporting the local business and residential community. He currently serves as
the President of the South Tabor Neighborhood Association.
Jonah is also the parent of a child in the
Richmond Elementary School Japanese Magnet Program. Jonah himself spent six years
in elementary school in Japan,
where he acquired his Japanese language skills.
Jonah, a former salesperson
for scientific equipment, moved to Portland from
Boston in 1995 and graduated in 1999 from Lewis
and Clark Law School.
While going to school full-time he also
worked many hours at a public defenders office, including spending as many as
three days in court a week. He was also
active in a number of campus organizations.
Jonah is a member of the
Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Oregon Trial Lawyers
Association, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys.
Joanna
Wagner, Staff Attorney Joanna
assists in handling the transactional (handling documents) work for the office, and acts as
litigation support for Jonah. She is
especially involved in preparing personal injury cases for settlement
negotiations and litigation.
Joanna
is also active in the Portland
community.
She volunteers with the Portland Fruit Tree Project’s Tree Care Teams. The Project assists homeowners in caring for
neglected fruit trees and redistributes that produce to the Food Bank.
Joanna
is a native of the Philadelphia area and worked
as a gardener and landscape nursery assistant manager on the east coast before moving to Portland for law school
in 2005. She graduated cum laude from
Lewis and Clark Law School
in May 2008 with a Business Law Certificate.
She was ranked 25th in her class.
Her areas of interest included bankruptcy,
secured financing, business formation, real estate, and other commercial
transactions. Her article
"Improving Native American Access to Federal Funding for Economic
Development Through Partnerships with Rural Communities" has been
published as a Special Feature in Vol. 32
No. 2 of the American Indian Law Review.
Joanna
is currently a member of Oregon Women Lawyers and the Multnomah Bar
Association.
